Brenda Zadorsky was a vocal teacher in the public school boards. Her husband, William Zadorsky worked for the Catholic
school boards. Eventually William felt that he wanted to teach students with more developed voices, so he went to the school
after St. Mary, Catholic Central Highschool. There was one problem with that plan, it left the Catholic school boards one
vocal teacher short.
The principal of the Public School Boards, Mr. O’Brien, noticed that Brenda disappeared often, without telling people
where she was going to. She missed many of her classes, so the principal decided that she would be the new vocal teacher in
the catholic school board to try to shape her into a better teacher. He called Brenda to his office one day after she came
back from ‘one of those errands’.
Brenda waited in the dark, austere hallway for Mr. O’Brien to call her in. His secretary emerged from an office Brenda
presumed to be his.
"You may go in now Brenda" the secretary said. She seemed nice enough, Brenda just hoped that Mr. O’Brien would be
the same way. Brenda gulped nervously and entered the office.
"Ms. Brenda Zadorsky I presume?" Mr. O’Brien asked.
"Yes sir"
"Good, good. Please, sit down" he said gesturing towards the vacant seat opposite him. Brenda glanced at him, then sat down.
"Oh! I’m so sorry Mr. O’Brien! I just couldn’t help myself. I had a spare, the children weren’t singing
and-" Mr. O’Brien cut her off.
"I haven’t summoned you here for apologies." he stated, a bit surprised at the sudden outburst."Oh?" Brenda questioned.
"No. I have summoned you here to tell you that you are to go and work for the Catholic school board."
"What? Oh please sir, you can’t let me desert all these children when-" Mr. O’Brien cut the worried Brenda
off a second time.
"No! You seemed to have misunderstood me. You are to teach at St Mary Choir and Orchestra school at the beginning of the
day, and then at lunchtime, you are to go back to the school you teach at right now." "Well, I will if it is the will
of the music. Is it the will of the music?" She asked.
"Yes, I do believe it is your calling. After all, where else are they to find a music teacher?" he laughed. But his tone
turned serious again. "Now as I understand it, they have had a rather difficult time keeping a vocal teacher."
"Why so difficult Mr. O’Brien?" Brenda asked dubiously.
Mr. O’Brien gave Brenda a small smile. "Music will show you in its own good time." Brenda gave him a look as if to
say ‘I don’t know what your talking about but if you don’t tell me. . .’ But he didn’t tell
her, so she stood up and left the office to pack some of her things for the new school.
